BOSfluids 6.2: Improved and more efficient user interface

8 Nov 2021

The BOSfluids user interface has been improved in many visible and invisible ways in this new release. Although many changes are relatively small, together they make the user interface significantly more efficient when creating and modifying piping models. One change concerns the Piping tab page that requires less screen space so that more screen estate is available for other parts of the user interface. This change is the first in a series of changes to the layout of the user interface that are planned for the near future.

Another change concerns new support for selecting elements on basis of their properties. For instance, you can select, and possibly modify, all elements with a specific diameter or thickness with only a few actions. This can save a great deal of time when a large piping model needs to be updated because of a change in piping specifications, or when a modeling error needs to be corrected.

Yet another change involves the way that BOSfluids handles model parameters that refer to ele-ments, nodes, and other entities. These references are now automatically updated when elements and nodes are renamed and removed. This means, for instance, that connected nodes in restraints remain correct when renumbering the nodes in a model. This also means that you can more easily duplicate parts of a model as references to elements and nodes within those parts are duplicated in a correct way. This, together with the possibility to create multiple duplicates with one opera-tion, can save a lot of time when modeling repetitive structures.

The last, non-visible, change that is mentioned here reduces the start-up time and the amount of memory required by the user interface. This can be noticeable for large piping models containing lots of scenarios.

Furthermore, we would also like to inform new and future users that our “Water hammer/surge analysis using BOSfluids” training course is available as self-paced online training course. For more information on this course and other courses please visit us on EngineeringTrainer.com.
